Our team secured planning permission for the renovation and conversion of a former rifle range store building into a high-quality three-bedroom home. The original building had an impressive concrete frame which the design sought to retain and celebrate as it threaded through the new internal spaces. Existing openings to the west of the property were lowered to utilise the existing structure and in the living area, a large sliding window system was installed between the original concrete frame giving the open plan space a panoramic view over the neighbouring historic gallops to the south east, opening on to a deck area for dining.

External materials were chosen to help the building mass to softly bed into its surrounding rural context. A grey zinc roof and naturally finished Siberian larch will weather and grey over time helping to make the building part of its place

Internally, the existing plan of the building was divided to create a dramatic double height entrance hallway, large open plan kitchen/dining/living area with wood burning stove, 3 bedrooms and a study, each featuring a glimpse of the original concrete frame, left exposed and polished.
